Car Show participants chose the winners by popular votes. Our classes and awards were based on the number of pre-registered registrants. The car was characterized by its wedge-shape, commonly advertised as “The Shape of Things to Come” and by a swage line sweeping down the rear wing to just behind the front wheel, having been designed by Harris Mann. The TR7 was powered by a 105 bhp, 1,998 cc eight-valve four-cylinder transmission. Thank you from the Gold Coast British Sports Car Club to all of our members and friends who came out to Royal Palm Place in Boca Raton on Sunday, February 28. We had 165 attendees; and this year our honored marques were several series of Triumphs, the TR3, TR4, TR7 and TR8.The TR3 is a sports car produced by Standard-Triumph in England from 1955 through 1962, first as the TR3 from 1955 through 1957, then the TR3A from 1957 through 1962 and the final version TR3B in 1962.Because of its outstanding performance, the TR8 was often dubbed the “English Corvette.” Our Car Show was a great success.
Our awards this year were wall clocks engraved with our Car Club Logo and award designation.
Club Chairman Jim Archer, his wife Martha, Car Club Secretary Noel Weinstock and a helpful crew of volunteers manned our Regalia Table; they were very busy selling monogrammed Club items.
Thanks to our many generous sponsors who took ads in our Car Show Brochure and donated some great items for our raffle prizes.
Now with more than 200,000 miles, Brad’s TR3A has gone through a refit including a rebuilt engine, a TR4 transmission, green repaint and interior marine materials to protect against the rain.
Brad is still driving his car about once a week but still occasionally gets caught in the rain!
